Samsung is really taking up with its various Android based devices like Galaxy Mobiles, Galaxy Cameras and now Home Media Server/Set top box named Samsung HomeSync which runs Android, 1TB in built Hard Drive, 1.7 GHz dual core processor , Wifi, Gigabit ethernet port, HDMI etc etc. When we say Android is it a Google TV ?? or a Latest Android Jelly Bean ?. Lets look at the full details of Samsung HomeSync.

Samsung HomeSync is not a Google TV bases Set top box, it powers complete Android Jelly Bean, what it means is you get full access to the apps in Android Play Store. Google TV version of Apps are very limited when compared to the regular Android Play Store.

Another huge highlighting spec of Samsung HomeSync is that it has in built 1TB hard drive which is huge storage to have much more Movies, Videos and Music. It will become a one stop solution for your Home Entertainment. You can share your contents on your local network via Wifi Share or DLNA, you can stream via tons of apps in Android Play store like YouTube, Netflix etc..

Samsung HomeSync Specifications:

  • Android Jelly Bean

  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB Internal Flash

There are certain things which are not clear or available are

  • No details on Pricing and Availability (Some expects it to available in April)
  • Not sure if it is a actually  a set top box with Cable port/HDMI in or just a Media Server with Android.
  • No talk about keyboard/remote , Just a Smart Phone App or a seperate wireless Keyboard Mouse ?

Other things to be note is that Last year Samsung announced about Android based Samrt Camera for Video Calling powered by Google TV, but that product never came out to market. NO update and news about that after that. Lets wait and see what happens to HomeSync. But if Samsung pulls out this to market with a decent price, going to hit Google TV products a tight competition.
